{Events} Holiness and the Feminine Spirit

On a recent Saturday I had the opportunity to photograph a moving performance of spoken word, dance, music, and art at Richfield United Methodist Church titled, “Holiness and the Feminine Spirit”.

This performance featured singers Sara Thomsen, Sarah M. Greer and Mary Lou Williams, storyteller-dancer Regina M. LaRoche, and spoken word artist, Marilyn Mayry at Richfield UMC on Saturday, September 22nd, 2012.

This performance was created as a response to the art of Janet McKenzie, who’s exhibit of stunning paintings were on display throughout the evening.  Attendees were able to meet with Janet before the performance and hear her speak about the art she produces.

In her work, McKenzie creates “a sacred and inherent place within that connects us all beyond race and gender where no judgement exists.”
